Introduction
Ponds Forge International Sports Centre hosts many large UK and International events ranging from the British Karate Championships to the World Indoor Bowls Tournament. As well as being the chosen swimming and diving venue for Channel 4's ‘The Games' in March 2006.
The International swimming pool regularly sees swimming galas and UK swimming meetings, such as the European trials this year, as well as the Age groups swimming championships and the World Octopush championships.
Disability Events
Ponds Forge ISC is also proud to host a number of disabled events within their sporting calendar including the National BOCCIA Championships and many more.
The National Boccia Championships are held in the International Sports Hall at Ponds Forge ISC.
Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th March 2006.
Spectators are welcome and entrance is FREE of charge.

The DSE Nationwide National Junior Swimming Championship is held in the International 50m Competition pool at Ponds Forge ISC.

Spectators
For disabled spectators wishing to view swimming events at Ponds Forge we have 2 designated wheelchairs bays.
Also on pool side there are 3 newly renovated disabled toilets and 2 designated showers and changing facilities. All reaching if not exceeding DDA standards.
For events in the sports hall provisions are also made to make comfortable and accessible viewing.
Casual Use of the facilities
No matter what their disability, Ponds Forge caters for the majority. With disabled provisions made available as follows..
- Use of 3 gyms (Pay-as-you-go or membership). All easily accessible, with provisions made for carers to attend (free of charge) within the Fitness Unlimited membership.
- Leisure Pool. Again easily accessible with provisions such as chair lifts and disabled changing rooms.
- Competition Pool. As above.
- Sports Hall – can be hired out for any dry side sporting activity e.g. disabled basketball, table tennis, short tennis and much more.
- Health Suite – with sauna steam room, bubble spa and much more.
- Coached Sessions – including swimming, basketball, seated exercise to music. For more information please call 0114 223 3400
General Provisions
Ramps to all access points within the building. Including entering the building.
- Ponds Forge is spread over 3 floors (4 if the car park is included). Wide lifts are available, each with a delay on the doors for wheelchair users and pushchairs etc.
- Disabled toilets and changing facilities are available around the building next to or within each leisure sector e.g. both swimming pools, the gyms, sports hall. All include safety pull cords which are alarmed, seated showers, hand rails etc.
- Ponds Forge has a designated parking facility for disabled badge holders, with 15 wide spaces near to the entrance. Parking is free of charge (unusual in a city centre location) to all disabled badge holders.
